YOU ARE IN: Latest news > Metropolitan

Metropolitan is a son of Western Hanover line stallion The Panderosa, and is bred identically to boom US and Australian sire Shadow Play.

Formerly a shuttle stallion, Metropolitan is now domiciled in Australia and stands at the Shepparton property of Steve and Anne O'Donoghue, Morley Park.

With only progeny aged 3, 4 and 5 racing currently, Metropolitan has already sired some brilliant juveniles that seem to be getting better with age.

Top of the list is BLITZTHEMCALDER, a colt from Australia's best trotting family that has also produced champions Maori's Idol and Sumthingaboutmaori.

As a 2yo Blitzthemcalder won 10 times from 13 starts, earned $164,060, took a record of 1:59.6, and was named Australian 2yo Trotter of the Year (2012).   At 3 he became an International winner with a successful NZ campaign, a combined total of 15 starts for 7 wins and 4 placings, earnings of $178,667 and a winning time of 1:56.6 - and again named Australian trotter of the year for his age group.

Metropolitan won over a million dollars US as a pacer himself, and has also sired some outstanding pacing progeny.  They include Exciteusinthecity ($120,045; 1:52.9); Metro Mike ($92,950; 1:56.3); Kickittochris (12 wins so far) and filly Tallulah Bay (Edgar Tatlow winner, runner up 2yo Pacing Filly of the Year).

Currently at Morley Park Metropolitan still stands at a low fee of $1750 LFG for the remainder of this season.  Steve and Anne can be contacted on 03 58231508.
